As I mentioned during the post for their engagement shoot, I could not have been more excited to photograph Johanna and Grant’s wedding. I loved them when I met them and all the way through this process, they have been a blast to work with. Johanna could not have looked more beautiful and can I just say…her dress rocked! J & G are amazing to photograph as they are just so comfortable being affectionate with each other in front of the camera. When they are together, it’s almost like nothing else exists. Even on their incredible wedding day at Saddlerock Ranch, Malibu, CA...when they were together, it was as if there was nothing else going on around them. And let me tell you…there was ALOT going on around them: 10 Bridesmaids, 10 Groomsmen, large families, lighting and design set ups all around….the point is, this was as full on a wedding as you could imagine, and Johanna and Grant were pretty much focused on nothing but each other.
Grant is from South Africa, Johanna is from Columbia, they met in Chicago and them moved here as Grant is going to Law School at UCLA. I think 80% of their wedding was from out of town or out of the country. That being said, there was this incredible energy at this wedding…you could tell that all their friends and family could not be more psyched about this union. It’s really what weddings are all about. I also want to mention how cute Johanna’s mother is. She simply could not hold back her tears of joy through most of the day and though it might have been a pain for her makeup, it was great for my photos!
Anyway, I could go on forever…I do want to do send a few shout outs to the following folks. Brian Leahy, my 2nd shooter….thank you for doing such and incredible job, schlepping equipment all over the place and being half 2nd shooter, half therapist! Tricia Graup from Tricia Nicole Events, coordinator extraordinaire, who actually managed all of these out of town guest and wedding where you had to bring in everything but the grounds and the bathrooms! Holly Flora florists, you know you are my fav’s, and Doug from Envision Productions (Videographer) who was super cool to work with. These are just a few of my favorite images.

Beautiful! Can anyone give me some advice on how much lighting was done for this magnifcent setting. We are having a summer wedding there and while I know it will get dark , just how much is needed to compliment the mood lighting that is there. I don’t want to over do but I also have never seen it the garden space after dark. Any responses will be very appreciated.
