Kim and Paul’s Wedding – Calamigos Equestrian Center Wedding Photos, Garden Wedding Photos

The Calamigos Equestrian Center is a venue I used to work at often when I lived in Studio City. It was really great to work there after Tess was born as it was so close to my house. In addition, it’s an overall super chill place to work. The staff there is very cool and I always feel well taken care of. The Garden area of Calamigos can be a little challenging for photographs:  if there is another wedding on the property that day they pretty much regulate you to the garden area….in which case you are dealing with a 20×20 ft space that is either too bright, back lit, or full of seating. Regardless, I always feel that the photographs there turn out beautiful in a very classic and simple way. And honestly, most brides and grooms who I have photographed here have that kind of style. In the past, I’ve run over to the stables or the other areas, but we were a bit restricted on this day.

I had not met Kim until 2 weeks before her wedding. When she booked with me months before I liked her immediately. She told me that she had kept her “608” area code so she could always talk to her mom for free. I spoke to my mother almost everyday before she passed a few years ago so this kind of closeness was dear to my heart. Kim has a very low key casual style, and she is VERY funny.  I really tried to listen as she told me about how she couldn’t see her fiance Paul taking photos seriously for two long. She didn’t like a lot of processing, just nice punchy photos. As you can see, both of Kim and Paul total hams and their wedding party were a very fun crowd to work with. Veronica and I had a fabulous time with them!
