Before I walked in the door to Becki’s Hotel room for her wedding day I knew very little about her personality. Her mom, Kristie had been the one who contacted me and really went over all the details. I did refer Veronica Lane who is an absolute amazing makeup artist and was THRILLED when I walked in the door and found that Becki would be wearing her hair in a Bouffant. Not that I should focus on such a small detail, but Becki really put her vintage wedding style together perfectly with the dress and shoes, and photographically, I was REALLY digging it.
The chapel at Forest Lawn is, yes, the chapel at the cemetery and though many might find that creepy, I was madly in love. As you can see, the chapel has this old Americana, feel to the architecture, which went perfectly with Becki’s look but also created this light reflective feeling to the photos there. I can imagine that they have many more funerals there than wedding ceremonies, but there was something sort of gruesomely romantic about that thought….with death there is also life and wonderful times and wonderful memories…like officially joining with your soul mate and partner for over 10 years in a house of God. Not to get too heavy in a blog post…but that’s how the space felt. There was something incredibly heavenly about it.
It was really a pleasure to meet Becki and Ian’s families and a wonderful surprise of a wedding!
