So Yvonne and Joel met at Villian’s Tavern in Downtown Town Los Angeles 2 years to the day before their elopement. For the sake of keeping just one anniversary date straight in their heads, they eloped on a Monday and then had a full wedding with guests on the Saturday. There is something very gratifying about being one of two witnesses at someone’s marriage…The plan was on Monday, that after the ceremony, we would trace their history….from where the met at Villian’s Tavern to their first date at El Portal Mexican restaurant, to their first kiss…in front of Yvonne’s old workplace. This was a wonderful afternoon of getting to know them and by the end of the day I thought they were the coolest couple ever.
Their wedding on Saturday was a lovely, low key celebration with about 60 guests at Happy Trails Catering – a lovely little find right behind the catering office in Old Town Pasadena. It was just wonderful for photos and the area surrounding it was great to run around in.
Yvonne is a ham (as you can see) and Joel is her perfect straight man. The story is that on their 2nd date, she brought him to her Taiko drumming practce! Well, no wonder he fell head over heels for her….this special performance was amazing and brought Joel’s mother to tears. So honored to have been able to capture these amazing days. And again, this is one AWESOME couple!
