Abbot Kinney, Venice Beach Engagement Session – Katie and Eric

Katie and her mom came to see me and it was like meeting old friends. I am so excited to photograph this wedding at the Skirball Center next June. I had never met Eric before and I know when he came to the shoot he was like “What is this and what am I doing?” As much as so many couple’s know ALL about engagement shoots and have seen tons of them online, believe it or not, I have had clients, especially recently, who just are not tuned into that kind of thing. Honestly, if I were not in the wedding business, I can’t imagine I would know what an engagement shoot was. Anyway, it was really fun to see Eric get more and more into it as the shoot went on, even suggesting more locations at the end! What was even more fun was being able to capture how they interacted together. They are most definitely not the “posey” type couple but all I had to do was tell them to look at each other and they would just smile and laugh. And how cute are they on their bikes? Since they do ride around on the weekends a lot, I just thought it would be so cool to capture that. I really encourage clients to do more “Day in the life” kind of shoots. I think it’s cool to have professional photos doing things you would normally do together (I know I say this all the time). And can I say….I just loved what Katie was wearin – it photographed really well. Being that I returned home from this shoot with 102 fever….they made my job very easy!
